New Zealand will play host this week to two meetings of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), a regional consultative grouping on security issues.
The ARF Defence Officials Dialogue will take place in Wellington on 7 May 2012 followed by the ARF’s Intersessional Support Group Meeting on Confidence-Building Measures and Preventive Diplomacy on May 8-9.
Both are working level officials meetings and will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Ministry of Defence.
New Zealand is co-chairing the two meetings with Cambodia, this year’s chair of ASEAN.
The 27-member ARF promotes dialogue and cooperation on regional security issues in the Asia-Pacific region.
