Asia Pacific Regional Economic Integration and Architecture Conference

A conference to discuss the importance of economic integration in the Asia Pacific region and implications for New Zealand’s foreign policy, co-organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the New Zealand Asia Institute, the University of Auckland and the New Zealand Committee of the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council took place at Auckland University of Technology on 25 March.

Keynote speakers from Singapore, Japan, Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand discussed a range of topics, including the future of APEC in light of the development of the East Asia Summit; the outlook for the ASEAN-Plus processes, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations and the China-Japan-Korea tripartite discussions, and current and future challenges for institutions in the Asia-Pacific region.
