Travel Advisories

Here’s what you need to know about New Zealand consular services. New Zealanders considering travel to the United Kingdom should review our travel advisory(external link) with up-to-date information on security risks, and register on SafeTravel(external link).

Visas and Passports

Please be aware that the New Zealand High Commission does not have any role in UK visa or immigration processes and cannot provide advice or assistance to those who want to apply for a visa to live or work in the United Kingdom.

The Department of Internal Affairs has information about New Zealand passports, including urgent travel(external link) and lost/stolen passports(external link). The New Zealand Passport Office in London is open by appointment only. Applications delivered in person are not accepted.

They take calls between 10am-2pm, Monday to Friday (UK-time) except public holidays on +44 (0)20 7968 2730, or you can email London@dia.govt.nz

For urgent passport replacements outside their office hours call the main office number +44 (0)20 7968 2730 for recorded information.

Notarial Services

Documents for use by New Zealand organisations and government departments can be witnessed by registered UK lawyers, solicitors and notary publics. This provision is outlined in legislation. Specifically the New Zealand Oaths and Declarations Act 1957 (Section 11 Declarations made outside New Zealand).

Only in exceptional circumstances will staff at the High Commission witness certain documents for use under New Zealand law.
