Biography

Gabrielle Rush is a career diplomat and international lawyer who commenced her term as New Zealand Consul-General to Hong Kong and Macao in September 2014.

Gabrielle has worked on a wide range of international law, foreign and trade policy issues both inside and outside of government since joining MFAT in 1994.

She was Associate Director of the New Zealand International Business Forum and the New Zealand United States Council from 2007 to 2011 and in 2012 helped establish the New Zealand China Council.

Her roles with MFAT have included senior positions in the Americas and Legal Divisions and previous postings to the High Commission in London and Embassy in Beijing.  She began her career as a Crown Prosecutor and has also worked in the law faculty of the University of Hong Kong.

Gabrielle has two children.  She holds a Masters in Public International Law from the London School of Economics.
