Papua New Guinea national elections will be held in 2017 with polling open from 24 June 2017 until 8 July 2017. There is the potential for political activity and protests in the lead up to and around the election period.

New Zealanders in Papua New Guinea are advised to avoid all demonstrations, protests and political rallies given the potential for these to turn violent with little warning. We recommend you monitor the media to keep up to date with local events and follow any instructions issued by the local authorities, including any restrictions on movement.
