New Zealand welcomes Malaysia’s accession to the International Criminal Court

Ministry Statements & Speeches:

The Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded a successful visit to Malaysia this week. New Zealand welcomes Malaysia’s accession to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. We look forward to working with Malaysia on our shared commitment to the fight against impunity for the most serious international crimes.

New Zealand is a long-standing supporter of the International Criminal Court, which is a central component of the international rules-based order and international efforts supporting international criminal justice and accountability.

New Zealand reiterates its commitment to uphold and defend the principles of the Rome Statute.

We are committed to working with others to safeguard the Court as an independent and impartial tribunal, including supporting the staff of the Court to carry out their roles, and ensure it continues to be an effective and credible international institution.
