New Zealand and China hold officials’ Foreign Affairs Consultations

News:

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Chris Seed, held virtual Foreign Affairs Consultations today, 9 December, with his Chinese counterpart Vice Minister Zheng Zeguang.

Today’s discussions afforded a valuable opportunity to discuss the bilateral relationship, as well as issues arising in both regional and multilateral fora.

“We held a warm and constructive discussion on a range of issues including the trade and economic relationship, people-to-people links, and our perspectives on global challenges like COVID-19 and climate change”, said Chris Seed. Discussions also covered points of difference, including human rights.

The Foreign Affairs Consultations complemented the Joint Trade and Economic Commission discussions, which were also held virtually at officials’ level in September.
