News:
Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters spoke yesterday with Germany’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas, to discuss our two countries’ cooperation in response to COVID-19.
With high numbers of Germans in New Zealand, the two Foreign Ministers discussed the options for the safe repatriation of those citizens, taking into account the restrictions of New Zealand’s alert level 4, which has been put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 around the country in order to protect New Zealanders and foreign nationals alike.
The Ministers noted the exemption that the New Zealand Government granted for the Lufthansa flight that departed New Zealand for Germany on 28 March, and had a constructive exchange on next steps.
