Tourist Visa On Arrival

The manual Visa on Arrival for New Zealand citizens at Indian international airports was discontinued from 26 December 2014.

A new electronic visa facility for New Zealand passport holders is now in effect.

Tourists can now obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) from their homes.

You will have to apply online, upload a photo, a passport scan and pay the necessary fee online. Following this, the Indian government promises to deliver an ETA by e-mail in 72 hours. Over 75 counters have been set up at nine Indian airports to cater to ETA travellers. More details can be found here: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html(external link)

We would still advise those intending to visit India to contact the Indian High Commission in Wellington (or the nearest Indian Mission overseas if outside New Zealand) to check the latest information on Indian visa requirements and regulations.
