Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters spoke with the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to share New Zealand’s response to COVID-19 and discuss the importance of international co-operation to combat further spread of the virus.
Mr Peters and Mr Raab agreed that the two countries should continue to work closely together to support British citizens in New Zealand and New Zealand citizens in the United Kingdom.
Mr Peters affirmed that New Zealand was working actively to develop a plan for repatriation flights for foreign nationals, including those from the UK, which did not increase the risk of further spread of COVID-19.
Mr Peters thanked Mr Raab for the UK’s flexibility with respect to COVID-19 visa arrangements and emphasised that co-ordination with close partners was a key component of New Zealand’s response.
