Amid growing interest from New Zealand tech firms – including in the agritech, medtech, fintech, SaaS and other sectors – the New Zealand Embassy in Dublin and NZTE have prepared this report outlining the opportunities for tech companies in Ireland. The report draws from publicly available information and interviews with government and industry stakeholders.
Market Report on Ireland: Opportunities for New Zealand agri-business (November 2020)
A report has been prepared to give an overview of the agri-business sector in Ireland, including current challenges, government initiatives and opportunities for New Zealand business. The report, prepared by the Embassy in cooperation with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE), draws on both publicly available information and in-market experience, with a focus on the Irish farming (dairy and beef), agritech and wine sectors.

Kia Ora e hoa ma, dia dhaoibh a chairde
Last month we celebrated our first birthday in Ireland and were so honoured to be joined by the many friends we have made since cutting the ribbon on the Embassy in November 2018. It was also a chance to reflect on how the Kiwi-Irish relationship has grown over the year and the overwhelming we have received in Ireland in 2019, particularly in the wake of the sickening terrorist attack in Christchurch and the tragedy in Whakaari earlier this month.
We have been privileged to have three New Zealand Ministers visit since our doors opened, and also welcome Minister Humphreys and Minister Cannon to New Zealand in June. Special Irish-New Zealand stories have been told for the first time, trade and investment links have grown, and closer partnerships have been formed in so many areas – from agricultural cooperation to the Taoiseach being one of the first world leaders to join New Zealand-led efforts to counter terrorist and violent extremist content online through the Christchurch Call. Even a little sports diplomacy thrown in – or perhaps diplomacy in spite of the rugby and football score lines!
That’s just a very brief taster of some of the many highlights, with more great ideas and planning under way for 2020. But it also dawned on us that, despite being a small team, we are overdue in sharing a few more of these highlights with our friends and family. So in addition to following our feeds on Facebook (NZinIreland) and X (@BradBurgessNZ), from every quarter starting this month we’ll begin telling a few Embassy stories, profile the great things kiwis are getting up to in Ireland, and alert you to upcoming community events.
