Driver - Washington (US)
- An exciting opportunity to use your driving skills to support the New Zealand Embassy to the United States in Washington DC.
- A varied, dynamic and engaging role supporting Official New Zealand Government visits to DC, as well as supporting the Ambassador, Deputy Head of Mission and Embassy staff.
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Reporting to the Ambassador’s Executive Assistant, this role works closely with the Senior Driver to support the efficient and effective operation of the Post. This role will require you to:
- Provide driving services for visits to Washington DC by New Zealand Government Ministers and Officials
- Provide driving services for the Ambassador, Deputy Head of Mission and other Embassy staff
- Maintain the Post’s vehicle fleet and associated administration
Provide general administrative support to the Post
The salary range for this role is US$35,166 to $47,577 (plus overtime) – negotiable depending on experience.
The Post provides a comprehensive health insurance package and 20 days of paid vacation per year.

We’d like to hear from you if you have the following skills:
- Over five years previous professional driving experience e.g. providing chauffeur services, driving for senior officials or dignitaries
- Hold a current, clean driver’s licence and be able to drive post vehicles safely in local conditions
- Good knowledge and experience of basic car maintenance
- Experience in administration
- Flexible and resilient under pressure
- A reliable and collaborative team player
Applicants must be United States citizens, United States lawful permanent residents (Green Card holder) or possess a valid Employment Authorization Document (Form I-566) issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Individuals will be required to present proof of valid work authorisation before an offer is made.
