About Wallis and Futuna
Wallis and Futuna is an 'overseas collectivity' of France. Development cooperation
As Wallis and Futuna is an overseas collectivity of France, France is primarily responsible for its sustainable development.
However as a Pacific neighbour, New Zealand still plays a role in development. Our Consulate-General (which is based in Noumea and represents New Zealand throughout the French Pacific Territories) administers a small fund for Short-Term Training Scholarships for the people of Wallis and Futuna. Scholars are funded to come to New Zealand for skill-based and workplace training for up to 12 months.
We also support community projects through our development cooperation in New Caledonia
