Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The New Zealand Embassy in Mexico City is seeking a Policy Adviser (Agriculture). The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the advancement of New Zealand’s agricultural market access and policy interests by supporting the Post’s engagement with government officials, local contacts and the agriculture sector. The role will also work closely with our economic development agency (NZTE) to grow food and fibre exports from New Zealand to Mexico and Central America.
We are looking for someone with excellent analytical skills, who can also think creatively. Relationships and collaboration are essential for achieving the Embassy’s objectives, so ideally you will have an established network of relevant contacts in the key government departments and/or Mexican private sector. An understanding of the Mexican political context is desirable, as well as a background in government work, trade policy, primary and private sector engagement.
The appointment range for this role is MXN$595,118 - $700,139 per annum, including aguinaldo and prima vacacional – negotiable depending on experience. This is MXN$44,150 - $51,941 per month. The ideal candidate will be available to commence duties in February 2025.

Fluency in Spanish and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in developing and implementing policy advice and dealing with agricultural policy and/or technical issues.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships, work proactively and independently and work within a team.
Well-developed planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and work under pressure.
