Minister of Foreign Affairs Winston Peters spoke on 22 April with Australia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon Marise Payne to continue discussions about the two countries’ close collaboration on developments related to COVID-19, as well as other important bilateral and multilateral issues.
The two Ministers spoke positively about the strong, practical Trans-Tasman cooperation, especially on the issue of repatriations and transit.
Appreciation was expressed for the steps taken so far to ensure that citizens in each other’s countries were supported during these difficult times.
The Ministers exchanged views on a range of other issues, including Australia and New Zealand’s close cooperation in the Pacific, multilateral matters and future Ministerial engagement.
