New Zealand’s Pacific neighbours receive almost 60% of our Official Development Assistance (ODA) funding, reflecting our shared community interest in the prosperity and stability of the region.

Our long-term strategy is to achieve a stable and prosperous Pacific, in close partnership with Pacific countries, regional organisations and other development partners. New Zealand’s engagement in the Pacific is guided by the principles of understanding, friendship, mutual benefit, collective impact and sustainability.
