Ministry Statements & Speeches:
Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Tonga, Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu, met today virtually. Bilateral and regional priorities were discussed ahead of the Pacific Islands Forum, and in the context of the impacts of climate change and economic resilience.
The Ministers discussed the importance of the Pacific Islands Forum as a space for members to work together and build consensus. In this time of increasing uncertainty, it was acknowledged that there is real value in Tonga and Aotearoa New Zealand working together as part of a region that takes a collective approach to these issues.
