In March 2025, New Zealand and India announced the launch of bilateral negotiations toward a comprehensive free trade agreement. Read the press release(external link).

Negotiating history
New Zealand and India previously entered into Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations in April 2010. This bilateral negotiation ended in 2015 after 10 rounds, when India joined the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiation. India later withdrew from that negotiation in 2019.
