Opening of the Pacific Energy Conference June 2016
Chief Executive of Pacific Cooperation Foundation, Mac Leauanae, formally opens the Pacific Energy Conference 2016. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully, emphasises the importance of partnerships to deliver renewable energy initiatives in the Pacific region. He also highlights that the Conference will speed up access to sustainable energy in Melanesia.
European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, says the Conference is an opportunity to take stock of progress across the Pacific. He focuses on how important renewable energy is to development and economic growth, and that it is closely linked with climate change.
