Partnerships for International Development Fund

The PFID has been decommissioned and replaced with a new tailored approach to partnering for impact.

Partnerships for International Development (PFID) fund

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Trade completed a policy process on future partnering following an independent evaluation of the Partnerships for International Development (PFID) fund and extensive consultation with partners in New Zealand and partner countries, and our own research and analysis.

The PFID has been decommissioned and replaced with a new tailored approach to partnering for impact. All existing contracts under the PFID will be honoured to deliver the agreed outcomes.

The new approach addresses the PFID evaluation and consultation findings that:

  • a one size fits all approach to partnering was less than optimal;
  • there is a need to better harness the particular strengths that different partners can bring to achieve shared, sustained outcomes; and
  • the PFID resulted in a large number of projects requiring significant resourcing for both applicants and MFAT.
